ABB and Eaton Industries join ETIM International as Global Industry Members

Two global industry leaders strengthen their commitment to international product data standardisation.

ETIM International is pleased to welcome ABB and Eaton Industries as its newest Global Industry Members. Both companies have a long-standing involvement in ETIM through their participation in national ETIM organisations across numerous countries. By joining ETIM International directly, they are now taking the next step towards a more coordinated, global approach to their involvement in the development and adoption of ETIM standards.

ABB officially signed its Global Industry Membership agreement on 30 June 2026, followed by Eaton Industries on 21 July 2026.

From national participation to global coordination

For globally operating manufacturers, consistent product data classification across international markets is increasingly important. While ETIM is developed and maintained through a network of national organisations and their industry experts, multinational companies often contribute to ETIM independently through their local subsidiaries in different countries.

Global Industry Membership provides an opportunity to bring these efforts together.

As Global Industry Members, ABB and Eaton Industries gain direct access to ETIM International’s technical governance structure, by participating in the Technical Committee and its expert groups. This enables them to consolidate requirements, coordinate their technical contributions across countries and contribute a unified international perspective to the further development of ETIM standards.

Importantly, Global Industry Membership does not replace national ETIM memberships. It builds upon them. Global Industry Members also play an important role in driving the international adoption of ETIM by supporting initiatives to establish new national ETIM chapters in countries where they have business interests.

ABB: Strengthening international alignment

ABB is a global technology leader in electrification and automation, enabling a more sustainable and resource-efficient future. By connecting its engineering and digitalization expertise, ABB helps industries run at high performance and has a strong presence in international distribution channels and technical product markets.

ABB will be represented within ETIM International by Vincent Hurel, Global Head of Distribution Channels.

“As a global company working with distribution partners across many countries, we recognise the importance of consistent and reliable product information. ETIM provides a common language that helps our industry exchange technical product data more efficiently. By joining ETIM International as a Global Industry Member, we can contribute more directly to the continued development of this important standard.”

Eaton Industries: Advancing global product data consistency

Eaton is a global intelligent power management company, providing products and solutions to customers in markets around the world. Standardised and high-quality product data plays an essential role in making its extensive product portfolio accessible and understandable throughout international supply chains.

Eaton Industries will be represented by Ahmet Turhan, MDM Syndication, Data Quality and Content Team Manager.

“For a global organisation like Eaton, maintaining consistent and high-quality product data across countries, systems and distribution channels is a continuous priority. ETIM plays an important role in creating a common understanding of technical product characteristics. Our Global Industry Membership will help us strengthen internal coordination, align our international ETIM activities and actively contribute to the evolution of the standard.”

Strengthening ETIM through global industry commitment

The addition of ABB and Eaton Industries further strengthens the international industry representation within ETIM International. Global Industry Members play an important role in connecting the practical requirements of internationally operating businesses with the collaborative standardisation work carried out through national ETIM organisations. Their participation not only contributes valuable technical expertise, but also provides additional financial support for the continued development, maintenance and international adoption of ETIM standards.

“We are delighted to welcome ABB and Eaton Industries as Global Industry Members. Both companies have already demonstrated their commitment to ETIM through their extensive participation in our national organisations. Their decision to take this next step sends a strong signal about the importance of international alignment and industry-driven standardisation. It is particularly encouraging to see global industry leaders invest not only their expertise and resources, but also their commitment to strengthening ETIM as a truly global open standard.”

ETIM International warmly welcomes ABB and Eaton Industries to its global membership community and looks forward to an even closer collaboration in the years ahead.
