ETIM International has announced its intent to enter a collaborative partnership with IDEA (www.idea-esolutions.com). This partnership will help align the eCommerce standards used within the wholesale distribution channel with their counterparts in the USA to make global business more efficient for electrical manufacturers and distributors.

UNSPSC® Electrical Attribute Schema is the American equivalent to the European Technical Information Model (ETIM) used to uniformly communicate product information. IDEA led the development of the Schema to give electrical manufacturers a guide to provide descriptive marketing content to their trading partners throughout the US and Canada. Through this new partnership, ETIM International will work with IDEA to align the standards and develop a cross reference so that manufacturers can quickly send their marketing content to their US, Canadian and European-based distributors simultaneously.

In the download folder we added a document called "Guideline for suppliers to providing product data according to BMEcat^Ò Version 2005". This is a directive composed by ETIM Germany to give a guideline to suppliers how the German wholesalers expect the supplier to deliver his product data (including ETIM classification) in the BMEcat format. This can be the basis for other ETIM countries to define their country specific implementation of BMEcat.
